Prometheus – Master of Fire and Cosmos

On Saturday, June 20, 2009, the Yarilo Music Ensemble with guests presented the concert Prometheus – Master of Fire and Cosmos.

This concert was about fire as inspiration, with compositions by Alexina Louie, Trilogy: “AfterImage”, “The Ringing Earth”, and “Homage”. The concert was dedicated to this distinguished Canadian composer on the occasion of her 60^th birthday; John Burke, Firewind for two pianos, Jocelyn Morlock, “I Conversed with You in a Dream” (“A Delicate Fire”), for flute and piano is a recent work dating from 2007, with featured guest Kathryn Cernauskas on flute; Bulgarian Mikhail Goleminov’s “Revelation”, for piano and electronics, and the North American premiere of Alexander Scriabin/Alexander Sabaneev - Prometheus – Poem of Fire in a version for two pianos.
